Swingoddity is Dan Breslaw drums and Matt Drury bass guitar, both experienced world class musicians. They are creative and open minded in their approach to production which can produce some suprising results!
They draw on tunes from the 1920s and 30s by such greats as Duke Ellington and Count Basie, reworking the arrangements with hard contemporary dance grooves and an immense passion for the music they are playing. Most of the playing is live and the samples used are from their own recordings. The resulting sound is vibrant and edgy.

Jack Lead was a collaboration between Brighton producer Gary Dunbar and myself. We put all our favourite styles and influences into one pot and cooked a funky/house/dub/jazz/dance album the way we wanted to hear it!
It took us nearly 18 months to complete the album Jack Lead plug-in. The production values were high, and we also felt it needed space and atmosphere as well as great grooves.
I was really pleased with the way it turned out and we had a good time putting it together. Great performances by Lewis Targar - vocals, Higs - bass gtr, Jam Morrison - drums

In the early 80s I worked with studio engineer Dave Foister and lyricist Andrew Birtles in creating a unique sound for crossover artist Kym Amps. In 1984 Diversion Records released 'You Don't Know My Name' and in 2011 Minimal Wave re-released this track on the 80s compilation The Hidden Tapes.
Synth technology was fairly crude then, there was some sequencing, but many of the synth tracks were played 'live'. Nearly everything was analogue based, producing a lovely clear fat sound on all of those recordings.
Kym's vocals were always impeccable and usually done in one or two takes.

Next to writing, producing is one of my all time favourite things.
If you click with an artist you are working with, a great energy is released and the most amazing things can happen.
Here are some of the productions that I have worked on and enjoyed the most. I hope you enjoy them too...
